Pivot
Three times
the face was changed.
Three times
the eyes did not yet know
where they were going.
Beneath each layer of paint
there was hesitation,
a searching,
a quiet correction
of instinct.
Until
the right gaze emerged.
A lion walking in the dark,
steady but uncertain,
moving toward an unknown horizon
with only the weight of its own breath
for guidance.
No map.
No promise.
Just forward.
Then from the right
a light.
Not loud.
Not blinding.
But undeniable.
It catches in the amber of his eye.
It shifts the line of his jaw.
It softens the tension in his stride.
Opportunity rarely shouts.
It glows.
And in that glow
the lion pivots.
Not in fear
but in awareness.
Not in retreat
but in expansion.
His path widens.
His direction adjusts.
His horizon stretches beyond
what darkness had defined.
Three faces led to this one.
Three attempts before clarity.
Because sometimes
we must repaint ourselves
until our gaze finally meets the light
that was always waiting
just beyond the dark.
